Warwick Police have arrested a man after a domestic dispute at a Motel 6.

Police were called to the motel on Jefferson Boulevard around 2 p.m. after reports of a man firing shots in the parking lot.

Robbie Zeigler, 39, of Cranston, retreated to a hotel room and barricaded himself inside when police arrived. Zeigler had been having an altercation with his wife. It is not known if he was firing the gun at her, according to police.

The SWAT team was called, including a hostage negotiator. Zeigler surrendered peacefully after about an hour and a half of negotiating.

Police say Zeigler was in possession of a loaded revolver style handgun.

He is being charged with Domestic Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Using a Firearm when Committing a Crime of Violence, License Required to Carry a Pistol.
