RI roads and bridges among the worst in the nation

A new report released from the White House ranks Rhode Island as one of the worst states in the country when it comes to road conditions.

According to the “It’s Time to Rebuild America” Report 41% of Rhode Island’s roads are in poor condition and 74% of Rhode Island’s bridges are deficient or obsolete.

Connecticut also has 41% of roads in poor condidtions but its bridges are better than Rhode Island. New Mexico has better road conditions than Rhode Island but its bridges also rank at 74% deficient.

Rhode Island is not alone suffering from poor road conditions. According to the report, nationwide 65% of road are in less than good condition.

The report also indicates that Rhode Island drivers have the second highest vehicle repair coast in the nation paying over $661 a year for repairs. California drivers have the highest repair costs, according to the report. Connecticut is a close third spending less than a dollar less on vehicle repairs than Rhode Island.
