A 23-year-old man was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident in Narragansett Tuesday night.

Police identified the driver as Narragansett resident Jacob Clauson.

The accident happened at around 5:15 p.m. in front of the Dune's Club on Boston Neck Road.

The officer who reported the crash recognized Clauson at a stop light and knew he was driving with a suspended driver's license.

Clauson revved the engine, lifted the front wheel of the motorcycle off the ground and sped away once the officer turned his emergency lights on.

The officer lost sight of the vehicle but eventually found that Clauson had crashed, and the motorcycle had caught fire upon impact.

Police say the motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the accident.

Clauson was taken to Rhode Island Hospital. There is still no word on his condition.
