Neighbors of the Tiverton Materials quarry on Fish Road say blasting there has tripled there over the past year, leading to broken chimneys, cracked walls and water line breaks.
"I don't want to see the man go out of business. I would like to see him lower his charges so he is not shaking houses and doing damage," said resident Bob Toolin.
They also say there is no fence around what one resident described as a ``mini-Grand Canyon.''
"I walked down a path and when I stopped I was standing at a 60 foot cliff, no warning nothing, not even a fence to keep the kids with the dirt bike kids out," said Toolin.
Lawrence McCarthy III, and attorney for Tiverton Materials, told the council there are plans for a fence and that the company is a responsible neighbor. He argued the town's ordinance does not apply to the quarrying of granite.
