A special fundraiser is helping the New Bedford family who lost their home and restaurant in a fire.

Flames tore through the Lebanese Kitchen last Friday, completely destroying the popular Purchase St. eatery.

The restaurant had been there for more than 30 years.

Sunday, July 20, ‘Painting with a Splash’ held an in-studio fundraiser to help. Tickets cost $39 to paint ‘Sunset Beach’, and all proceeds will go to the family.

"When we heard they lost not only their business, but their home and everything it made us decide we had to just do a little something," said Painting with a Splash owner Barry Trahan.

The event raised about a thousand dollars for the Moujabber family.

"If it wasn't for the people that's around us it would be so hard for us," said Nabih Moujabber, owner Lebanese Kitchen.

"Thanks for everybody for all the support, but I'm gonna tell everybody we're gonna be okay," said Nauhad Moujabber.

The family plans to rebuild their business someplace in the city.
