Starting Monday, July 21st, Massachusetts Department of Transportation will activate the new all-electronic tolling system on the Tobin Bridge/US 1 southbound.

The new system allows for drivers to skip the stop at the toll, which is now completely cashless.

E-ZPass customers will continue to pay a discounted toll of $2.50, and the system will read the E-ZPass transponder.

Drivers without E-ZPass will be able to drive right through the toll and will “pay-by-plate”. A photo is taken of their license plate and drivers will pay the $3.00 after an invoice is sent to the address listed.

Commercial vehicle customers with an E-ZPass will continue to pay the current rates, and commercial vehicles without E-ZPass that will “pay-by-plate” will be charged an additional $0.50.

To sign up for E-ZPass, visit www.mass.gov/ezpassma or call 1-877-627-7745.
