Hidden on different trails throughout North Kingstown are hidden treasures, from sculptures to stoneware to painted houses, all made by local artists. Nancy Whyte Sherman explains the idea, "why not bring local artists some PR and get people out hiking!"

The North Kingstown Arts Council asked for local artists to create pieces to be hidden as part of the first "ArtVenture", the idea of bringing art and nature together. Sherman goes on, "Even if you don't find an art piece, hopefully you found other treasures with your eyes."

In all about 85 art pieces have been hidden on North Kingstown trails, if you find a piece of art, it's yours to keep, all you have to do is register it at http://www.nkartscouncil.org/?page_id=437

Sherman is already happy with the response of people out searching for the artwork. One family was searching trails Monday afternoon, they said, "It's a great idea to get families out and start looking at nature and there's already a lot of art in nature. We are going to hit all the spots we are on a mission!"

There are still plenty of art pieces to be found from now until August 16th. The pieces have been hidden on trails at Ryan Park, Calf Pasture Point, and Bush Hill Open Space.
