Due to a generous donation, the Department of Environmental Management’s Division of Fish & Wildlife has been able to replace 12 Genesis bows that were stolen during a break-in at a DEM facility in early June.

After Johnston orthopedic surgeon and avid hunter A. Robert Buonanno, MD, heard about the break-in, he immediately donated $1,100 to replace the missing bows and help the programs get back on track.

The loss of the training equipment impacted DEM field day type events and its Women’s Day at the range, as well as the Bow Hunter Education training programs.

Two bows have been found since the break-in, but eight bows have not yet been recovered.

The missing bows have been reported to the National Crime Information Center, and the DEM is asking anyone who might have purchased one of them to contact the Division of Law Enforcement at 222-3070.
