The rash of recent violence in the capital city inspired one local businessman to do something to raise awareness. Residents may have seen these signs that say "stop the violence" on 95 near Providence. They're being made by Gary Wallace, who owns a printing business in the city.
The life–long resident had his daughter design the signs to put on overpasses and hopefully make a difference. "The youth here our out of control and we hope putting up our banners will raise some awareness as people see them, and somebody will take a stand and try to do something about this," Wallace said.
There have been ten murders in Providence in 2014.
