New Hampshire State Police are investigating after a Cumberland man drowned in a river on Friday afternoon.
William P. Glad, a 37-year-old Cumberland resident, was swimming in the AmmonoosucRiver in New Hampshire when he did not resurface.
He later passed away.
His obituary states that Glad was a Secondary Education Teacher for the Providence School Department, for 12 years. He was currently working atDelsestoMiddle School where he was a department chair, and he was coach of the city championship Basketball Team. He previously was an assistant football coach at LasalleAcademy for 10 years.
Providence Superintendent, Dr. Susan Lusi, released a statement on Glad’s tragic passing:
“The Providence School Department and the DelsestoMiddle School community were deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of teacher William P. Glad. Mr. Glad has been a valued member of our school district for 12 years. At DelsestoMiddle School, Mr. Glad was the lead Social Social Studies teacher and also coached the basketball and soccer teams.
Our school community will be holding a memorial in Mr. Glad’s honor on Wednesday, August 6th at 7:00 p.m. in the DelsestoMiddle School cafeteria.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.”
New Hampshire State Police urges the public to be keen on water safety, and to be cautious is swift, rough, or what appears to be unsafe waters.
