UPDATE: Cranston Police have arrested Richard Rebello according to their Facebook page.

Cranston Police have located the stolen non-motorized wheelchair that belonged to a 10-year-old child.

A felony arrest warrant is issued for Richard A. Rebello, 43, of Atwood Ave in Providence, who allegedly stole the wheelchair before selling it.

On Thursday, August 14th, Police began an investigation after receiving a report that a handicapped child’s non-motorized wheelchair was missing from the front porch of her residence on Webster Ave in Cranston.

Rhode Island State Police and Cranston Police were notified today that the wheelchair had been sold for scrap at Intercity Recycling Services, located at 85 Carlsbad Street in Cranston.

Investigation revealed that Rebello was at the scrap yard on Friday afternoon and then sold it.

The wheelchair was recovered by police and is in good condition.

The arrest warrant was issued for Rebello with one count of receiving stolen goods over $1,500.00.

If found guilty, he could be imprisoned for up to 10 years or be fined up to $5,000.00.
