Police: Burglar broke into former candidate's home

Posted: Updated:

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Authorities are trying to find the burglar who broke into the Providence home of former mayoral candidate Lorne Adrain and his wife, novelist Ann Hood.

The Providence Journal (http://bit.ly/1lHUlwL ) reports that police were called to the home Monday. Hood told them jewelry was stolen from their master bedroom.

Hood also said the burglar entered the home in the city's Fox Point section through a kitchen window sometime between Saturday morning and Sunday night.

Police say there have been other recent burglaries in the area.

Adrain dropped out of Providence's mayoral race in July to make it harder for former mayor and two-time convicted felon Buddy Cianci to win.
