A man who rushed to help the eight acrobats who plunged 30 feet to the ground at the Barnum and Bailey's circus at the Dunkin Donuts Center earlier this year was honored Thursday for his heroic actions.

Bomb squad technician Bruce Quinn was among 15 Rhode Islanders to receive the Lifesaving Medal Award.

"It was horrific,” said Quinn when speaking about the circus tragedy. “It was a complete team effort."

Quinn was humbled when talking about the medal, saying many others also jumped in to help before first responders arrived.

"In this type of business you go into automatic mode. It's more just muscle memory. You just react you just really don't think about it,” said Quinn.

We did learn more details about how Quinn specifically helped one severely injured acrobat named Stephanie. We're told he helped keep her awake as she drifted in and out of consciousness until EMT's arrived.
