Governor Gina Raimondo has announced a State of
Emergency
for
Rhode Island
as a winter storm threatens the
Ocean State
with almost three feet of snow and winds up to 70 miles per hour.

Raimondo is asking people to stay off the roads after 8 p.m. on Monday. At midnight a travel ban will go into effect across the state until further notice.

Rhode Island State Police said it is a strong possibility that
Rhode Island
bridges will be closed to travel.

National Grid has 1,000 crews on hand to help restore power as outages are extremely likely with wind gusts up to 70 mph. Coastal communities are most at risk of losing power.
