Concerns over bed bugs at Woonsocket housing complex
A Woonsocket elderly woman is distraught after discovering bed bugs in her Woonsocket apartment.
85- year-old Dolores Towndrow held back tears while talking to ABC 6 News about the ordeal she's been through.
"My bed spread, my comforter, they are crawling all over,” said Towndrow.
Towndrow says she's been living with family after finding the bugs in her home at St. Germain Manor on Saturday. She says the Woonsocket Housing Authority will handle fumigation but she's responsible for bagging up her apartment and cleaning up afterwards.
"The way they are talking I have to do all the work. The furniture has got to go. At my age 85 years old it is hard,” said Towndrow.
Her family is very upset with how she is being treated.
"It's been a horror show,” said Towndrow's daughter, Carol Boucher. "We don't want her going back there because there's been other issues of bed bugs in that facility. What they should have done is fumigate the entire building because they are only going from one place to the other."
ABC 6 News did reach out to the Woonsocket Housing Authority for comment, so far, we have not heard back.
