Here's a look at some of the Memorial Day celebrations and parades happening in our area.
Westerly:The First RI Honor and Remember flag presentation is set for Monday in the Westerly Wilcox Park. Organizers will be doing the ceremony at the end of the Pawcatuck/Westerly Memorial Day parade about 10-10:30ish.
Fall River- Battleship Cove: Experience a traditional military observance at 12:00pm with the raising of the American flag from half-staff and a 21-gun salute.
North Kingstown: The observance of Memorial Day in North Kingstown will take place at 9 AM, at both the Town Hall and across the way at Veterans Memorial Park on Boston Neck Road. Wreath laying ceremonies will take place by the Civil War Memorial at the Town Hall along with the different memorials at Veterans Memorial Park. The annual parade will start at 10 AM.
Woonsocket: The cities observance is set for 10:30 a.m., at United Veteran's Council Armed Forces Park on Davison Street.
Pawtucket: The Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 25, 2015 at approximately 10:00am on 286 Main Street, Pawtucket RI.
Exeter: Rhode Island's 41st Annual Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at 1 PM at the RI State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter RI.
New Bedford: The Parade will form at11:00 AM at the intersection of Parker Street and Hathaway Boulevard and will step off at 11:30 AM. A Memorial Day Ceremony will be held and the end at Clasky Park.
Lincoln: The parade steps off at 11 a.m. from Smithfield and Reservoir avenues
North Providence: The parade steps off at 1 p.m. from North Providence High School and marches down Mineral Spring Ave.
Barrington: The parade steps off at 9:30 from Victory Field Memorial Gates in front of the town hall.
Burrillville: Post 88 will conduct a memorial service at 9 am at the Berard-Desjarlais Monument on Victory Highway. Then at 11 am a memorial service will be held at Freedom Park.
East Greenwich: The Leap frogs U.S. Navy Parachute team plans to jump onto Academy Field, Rector Avenue, to open the parade, which steps off at 10 a.m
*** Flag Notice: The Governor directs all U.S. and Rhode Island flags to be flown at half-staff at state agencies and buildings, Monday, May 25 in honor of Memorial Day.
