A North Smithfield man was arrested Sunday and charged with molesting a child.

Former Woonsocket Police Officer, 52-year-old Timothy S. Paul, was arrested on July 5th after police received a complaint from the mother of a 12-year-old child saying Paul molested the child on Pine Street.

After an investigation, Paul was charged with Second Degree Child Molestation and Disorderly conduct.

He appeared before a Justice of the Peace at police headquarters and was released on $10,000 personal recognizance and was ordered to not come in contact with the victim.

He is scheduled to appear in court for a pre-arraignment conference in September.
