NCAA Tournament Basketball, Hockey and Lacrosse Coming Back to Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - It was announced [April 18, 2017] by the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee that the Dunkin’ Donuts Center has been selected as one of the sites for the First and Second Rounds of the 2021 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Providence College will serve once again as the host institution for the First and Second Rounds, which will be played on March 18 and 20, 2021. Providence College and the Dunkin’ Donuts Center teamed up to host the event most recently in 2016 and 2010.
“We are excited to host the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in Providence at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center,” Providence College Athletics Director Bob Driscoll said. “We have established a rich tradition of hosting highly successful NCAA events in the City of Providence, and we look forward to serving as host once again. The NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament is one of the most prestigious and exciting events in all of sports. Hosting this event opens the door to showcase our great city, top-notch staff and venue.”
The Dunkin’ Donuts Center has a long history of hosting NCAA men’s basketball tournament action. In addition to hosting the 2016 First and Second Round games, the Dunkin’ Donuts Center hosted the East Regionals in 1975, 1978 and 1985. The First and Second Rounds of the 2010, 1996 and 1989 NCAA Men’s Tournament also were played at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.

Providence College has long been active in pursuing NCAA Tournament action. Providence College has served as the host school each time the NCAA men’s basketball tournament has been played in Providence. The College also has served as the host for three Frozen Fours (1986, 1995 and 2000) and two men’s ice hockey Regionals (1992 and 2003) at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.

Providence, R.I. - The NCAA announced today that Brown University has been awarded bids to host the 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Regional and the 2020 NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Quarterfinals.
The NCAA Men’s Ice Hockey Regional is scheduled for March 29-31, 2019 at the Dunkin Donuts Center, and the NCAA Lacrosse Quarterfinals are scheduled for May 16-17, 2020 at Brown Stadium.
Brown will once again partner with the Dunkin’ Donuts Center and the city of Providence to host the 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey East Regional. Brown previously hosted the NCAA Men’s Ice Hockey Regional at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in 2013, 2015 and 2017.
Brown hosted the 2016 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Quarterfinals, drawing a crowd of over 11,000 to Providence. The Bears have also hosted NCAA Tournament games at Brown Stadium in 1976 (Finals), 1985 (Finals), 1999 (North First Round Doubleheader), and 2002 (First Round Doubleheader). Brown has also hosted first round games at Stevenson-Pincince Field against Maryland in 1991, Navy in 1994, Cornell in 1995 and Johns Hopkins in 2016.
