Bryant Women's Lacrosse Captures NEC Title, Draws Stony Brook In NCAA Tournament Friday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Just hours after winning its third Northeast Conference Tournament Championship, the Bryant University women's lacrosse team learned its NCAA tournament fate, and it's a familiar one.
Bryant (13-4), Champions of the Northeast Conference, will travel to face Stony Brook University Friday, May 12 at 5 p.m. at Lavalle Stadium in Stony Brook, N.Y. The Seawolves (18-1), Champions of the America East Conference, are the No. 8 overall seed in the 2017 tournament and will host the first- and second-round regional at Lavalle Stadium. Albany and Northwestern will meet in the other first-round game on Friday at 7:30 p.m., with the winners to meet on Sunday.
This will be the second meeting between Bryant and Stony Brook this season, as the two met back on February 18 in Stony Brook, N.Y., with the hosts winning, 20-5. Bryant would win its next three games following the loss and will take a nine-game winning streak into Friday's first-round game.
On Sunday, Bryant captured its third Northeast Conference Championship with a 16-7 win over Wagner. Stony Brook captured its fifth-straight America East Conference title on Sunday with a 14-12 win over Albany.
This is the third NCAA tournament appearance for the Bulldogs. Bryant faced No. 7 Boston College in the first round of the NCAA tournament in 2014 and fell to No. 13 Loyola in the first round of the 2015 tournament.
