P-Bruins news release...

Providence, RI – The Providence Bruins fell to the Hershey Bears Thursday night 2-1, falling behind 2-1 in the Atlantic Division Finals. The P-Bruins got their lone goal from Chris Casto while Zane McIntyre made the start in net.

Providence opened the scoring at 8:47 of the first thanks to the defense pair of Tommy Cross and Casto. After Danton Heinen got the puck to Cross at the blue line, Cross deked his man and sent a pass across the line to Casto. Casto drove in from the left point and went top right corner against Pheonix Copley for his first goal of the postseason. McIntyre continued his streak of not allowing a first period goal in the postseason as the P-Bruins headed to the break up 1-0.

The physical play of Providence kept the score right there throughout the second period, as the Bears could only muster five shots through the first half of the game and just ten total as they entered the second intermission down 1-0. They were finally able to find the back of the net in the third, taking advantage of a Casto hooking penalty. Former Boston and Providence Bruin Chris Bourque took a rebound in the left slot and scored his first goal of the series, tying the score 1-1 and eventually sending the teams to their second straight overtime game.

After a power play for Providence was unsuccessful, Hershey got a man-advantage opportunity of their own. For the second time Bourque capitalized on the chance, scoring the game-winner for his second goal of the night at 7:14 as the Bears stood victorious 2-1.

McIntyre stopped 13 of 15 shots while Copley stopped 39 of 40. Providence was 0-6 on the power play and 3-5 on the penalty kill. The P-Bruins will look to tie this best-of-seven series tomorrow night at the Dunk when teams meet again for game four at 7:05pm.
