FRANKLIN, Mass. (WLNE) — The search for a 20-year-old continues into its fifth day and now people from all across Southern New England, including a Rhode Island man, have joined the search.

However, there is still no sign of Michael Doherty who was last seen leaving a party early Sunday morning, but his story has compelled many to help including one Cranston resident.

On Wednesday, 62-year-old William Derosa drove to Franklin from his Cranston home to help crews in their search despite having no connection to Doherty or his family.

The retired bus driver said this situation could happen to any family and he would do his part to help.

Doherty’s parents spoke to the media saying they are devastated about their son’s disappearance.

The search efforts involve over 40 different communities. There is no word yet on how long they will continue this extensive search.

As of Thursday morning, there is still no sign of Doherty.

Neighbors have decorated trees with blue and white ribbons which are the colors of Duke University where Doherty attended.
