BOSTON (AP) - A Boston hospital where nurses and their supporters have been picketing while on strike says there was an attack on buses carrying replacement nurses.
A Tufts Medical Center spokeswoman says one nurse was verbally abused Sunday morning by a picketer at a hotel where the nurses are staying.
Rhonda Mann said the same person again confronted the nurse outside Tufts while others were pounding on the bus, screaming.
Mann said at a second hotel, outside of the city, picketers were throwing objects at a bus driver.
State police responded to the Boston hotel and dispersed the protesters, who did not have a permit.
The 24-hour strike by about 1,200 nurses ended Thursday.
The nurses have been locked out by the hospital until Monday because temporary nurses hired have a five-day contract.
