NORWICH, Conn. (AP) _ Police are seeking the public's help in identifying a body that was recovered from a Connecticut river last month.

Officers responded to a report of a possible dead body in the Shetucket River in Norwich on July 22. Two people who had been fishing in the area pointed authorities to the floating body.

Authorities say the initial appearance led police to believe the body is a white man who had been dead for a "period of time.''

Police have described the man as having brown eyes, brown hair and a brown and gray beard and standing at about 6 feet tall, weighing 200 pounds. The department released three sketches Friday of the man's profile, one of which shows the man missing some front teeth.
