URI senior guard E.C. Matthews will miss the next 4-6 weeks of action on the court after fracturing his left wrist, ABC6 News confirmed Tuesday. The injury occurred with just under two minutes to play in the loss to Nevada. Matthews drove to the hoop and fell hard with two defenders near the basket. The Rams senior was down on the court for a few minutes before walking back to the locker room. Matthews did return and finished the game against the Wolfpack, but an X-ray Tuesday revealed the severity of his injury. Matthews will miss much of the remaining nonconference schedule for Rhode Island, including the game against Providence December 2nd at the Ryan Center.
