LAGUNA BEACH, Calif., Feb. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Laguna Beach Arts Alliance (LBAA) is now accepting applications for the $5,000 [seven-degrees] of inspiration grant. Deadline for applications is March 1, 2018. Each year LBAA presents the "Art Star Awards" to honor the best and brightest of Laguna's diverse artistic community. This year is the 12th Annual Art Star Awards to be held at [seven-degrees], and with it comes an exciting opportunity for an individual artist to receive a $5,000 grant. This grant is generously funded by [seven-degrees].
"[seven-degrees] has demonstrated a commitment to artistic forward thinking and invention through the funding of this grant. It has inspired many innovative projects that might have never come to fruition without their generous support. It's our pleasure to partner with them again this year," said LBAA Chair Rosemary Swimm.
The goal of the [seven-degrees] of inspiration grant is to provide support for an emerging or established artist to develop and present an innovative arts project or program that advances recognition of Laguna Beach as a vibrant arts community. It also enables the artist to expand and diversify his/her audience, providing an opportunity for advanced learning and progression. In previous years the grant was only open to Laguna Beach artists. This year the decision was made to open it up to all artists residing in Orange or Los Angeles Counties.
"We are so excited to support the [seven-degrees] of inspiration grant again this year and to open up eligibility beyond Laguna Beach. We are looking forward to some inspiring entries!" said Dora Orgill, Vice-President, General Manager of [seven-degrees].
The winner will be announced at the Art Star Awards on Sunday, April 29, 2018. The grant is open to creative artists (including choreographers, composers, playwrights and visual artists) as well as interpretive artists (including dancers, instrumental and vocal musicians, and actors). Artistic disciplines can include dance, literature, music, theatre, media arts, visual arts, or a combination of any of the above. The individual winner of the $5,000 grant will have 11 months to complete his/her project, and the body of work will premiere at the 2019 Art Star Awards.
