SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — Police are investigating after a older man approached two kids at a park on Old Mountain Road, and asked if he could play with them.

Police said the way the kids responded caused the male to walk away. But upon telling their parents about what happened, the police were contacted. 

"The male is known to the police as a homeless transient who frequents the Wakefield area," said South Kingstown Police.

Despite knowing of the man, police have not been able to locate him, but said there is no evidence of a crime,.

Authorities said they will keep searching for him. 

No further information is available.
