WARWICK, RI (WLNE)---The little girl injured when she was struck by a suspected drunk driver last week remains in serious condition at Hasbro Children's Hospital. 7-year-old Haylee suffered severe injuries to her legs after being struck by an SUV while riding her scooter on the sidewalk near her home. She has undergone several surgeries and remains fairly isolated within the hospital.

"We discovered that not seeing the kids created a lot more questions and a lot more stress for them," explained Deb D'Amario Violette, Haylee's great aunt.

Haylee's two brothers and twin sister were happy to finally see Haylee in person on Mother's Day. Haylee's twin sister Brianna even writing her other half a heartfelt letter.

A GoFundMe page has already raised over ten thousand dollars to help with Haylee's recovery and more support continues to pour in from the community.

There will also be a team called "Haylee Strong" participating in next month's "Walk Like MADD" to raise money for victim's of drunk driving. You can donate or volunteer here.
