The Chariho baseball team swept two-time defending champion Ponaganset in two games, winning game two 4-2 Tuesday.

After the Chieftains tied the game at two by stealing home, initially being called out, Ponaganset challenged and won, as Chariho starting pitcher Sean Sposato was called for a balk.

Sposato bounced back, hitting a go-ahead sac fly in the sixth. One of two that put the Chargers ahead, 4-2.

The junior got out of a bases loaded jam in the sixth with two strikeouts, being named the series MVP.

The win brings Chariho their first baseball title in 52 years.
