PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – Police arrest a man suspected of deliberately hitting another man with his truck, and fleeing the scene, after an altercation between the two.
Around 11:00 p.m. on Monday, June 11, police responded to a disturbance at Wendy’s on Broad street.
On the scene was an unresponsive male victim in the rear of the restaurants parking lot.
Witnesses say there was an altercation between two males in a nearby Walgreens parking lot.
Following the altercation, the suspect got into a Silver pick up truck and intentionally drove at the victim and fled the scene.
The victim is a 31-year-old male of Central Falls who was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with serious head trauma and is currently in serious condition.
Detectives later recovered the truck, but had a brief standoff with the suspect, 49-year-old James Rohelia of 47 Grace St. He then surrendered and was arrested.
Rohelia is being charged with Assault with Intent to Commit Murder, Duty to Stop Accident Resulting in Serious Injury/Death, Felony Assault, Simple Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Driving with a Suspended License.
He will be arraigned on the morning of Wednesday, June 13, at 6th District Court.
