Jeff Howe of The Athletic was first to report Thursday the news of a two-year contract extension for Patriots fullback James Develin. The Brown grad's current deal was set to expire at the end of the 2018 season. Develin was a Pro Bowl selection in 2017 and has been with the Pats since 2012, winning two Super Bowl rings.

On Thursday night, the Boston Globe's Jim McBride reporting it was close and ESPN's Mike Reiss reporting it was done: long snapper Joe Cardona has also agreed to a contract extension with New England. The new deal is reportedly for four years, added on to the last year of his current deal in 2018. Cardona was a fifth round pick by the team in the 2015 NFL Draft.
