Gray Struggles Again, Jays Use Big Second Inning to Beat Yankees
The New York Yankees are in danger of falling two games behind the Boston Red Sox in the AL East.
The Yanks dropped the opener of their three-game set in Toronto as Justin Smoak launched a three-run homer off Sonny Gray while the Blue Jays scored five times in the second inning of a 6-2 win over New York. Former Yankee Yangervis Solarte went 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored to help the Jays beat the Yankees for the first time in their last five meetings.
Aaron Hicks homered for the Yankees, who will drop another game in the standings if the Red Sox beat the Royals in Kansas City.
