JAMESTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) – A Johnston man was arrested Tuesday on breaking and entering charges after nearly a year of investigation.
Daren Post, 54, of Johnston, was arrested by Middletown Police Tuesday in connection with a January 25th, 2018 incident in which police responded to a home on Whittier Avenue in Jamestown for reports of breaking and entering.
The resident of the address told police he had entered the home and found an unknown person, later identified by police as Post, on the second floor of the home.
Post reportedly exited the home through a window and fled the area.
Jamestown Police and Rhode Island State Police conducted a search of the area and were not able to locate the Post.
Forensic and digital analysis of the scene allowed Jamestown Police to identify Post as the suspect nearly one year later.
Jamestown Police obtained an arrest warrant for Post, a career criminal with past charges including murder and burglary, and he was arrested by Middletown Police without incident.
Post was arraigned in District Court Wednesday and held on $50,000 bond.
