Today's chilly blast was no fun for any of us who are looking for a nice, mild fall. A day ago I was in Orlando, so this raw, miserable weather was definitely a rude awakening for me. The high temperature at TF Green was only 47°, and with the gusty wind, it felt more like the upper 30s most of the day.
The last time we had a high temperature cooler than 47° was on April 6 - 200 days ago. The normal high for today is a rather comfortable 61°, so we were 14° shy of where we should be.
This type of weather is about a month and a half premature. The normal high on December 1 is 47°. Let's hope this cool pattern, which in general terms will stay with us for the next 10 days, doesn't persist into the winter. It will stay chilly through tomorrow night, before a return to seasonable weather Friday afternoon through Monday. Another shot of cool air is likely for the middle of next week. Odds are good we'll be seeing colder-than-normal weather and spending money on heating bills sooner than we want to.
