Minority Leader Robert Watson, Minority Whip Nicholas Gorham, Part I

June 22, 2008

John Eagan

They are called legislative grants, and they range from a few hundred dollars, up to tens of thousands.  Every year they go to senior centers, local sports leagues, fire companies and food pantries.  No one would argue their worthiness.

But house Republicans went to court this week, upset about how they are doled out.  No legislative approval - and as you just heard from the house minority leader - a de facto slush fund - their words.

Here this morning to talk about the legislative grants, and a few other goings-on at the state house, are minority leader Robert Watson and minority whip, Nicholas Gorham.
