This is Candy. She will be 12 yars old this year. Candy was found by the son of one of my friends in Roger Williams Park back in 1997. She was approx 6 months old with a serious case of Mange, a serious skin condition caused by microscopic mites, that if not treated animals can eventually die from. It was obvious that she was abused and was very timid and easily startled. I was told that she would have to got to the pound if someone didt take her in the next day or 2, so knowing that shelters are on strict budgets and dont have the funds to treat sick animals with expensive problems. Afraid she was headed for a tragic fate, I took her home to live with my self and other pets,a chihuaua and an older cat. After a few weeks of love and the treating the Mange at the Vet, she began to show improvement and start to trust me. Eventually she was completely cured of Mange and recovered from the abuse she endured. Over time she turned out to be the sweetest, most trusting, well behaveed dog I could hope for. In return of saving her, she has brought more joy to my life and the life of anyone who has the pleasure of meeting her than I could have ever imagined. For me there is nothing more rewarding than the feeling that you get when you know that you can save an animal and give them the love and care that they deserve , especially when they had such a traumatic past. I Love My Girl!
