1 dead in 2-alarm fire in Coventry.

COVENTRY, R.I (WLNE) –  One person was found dead in a Coventry home after an early morning fire on Thursday.

According to Fire Chief Frank Brown, a neighbor called the department around 3:45 AM.

Upon arrival,  firefighters from Central Coventry, Hopkins Hill, and West Warwick had to enter the home from the second floor, as the first was engulfed in flames.

It took fire crews about an hour to put the fire out.

After the flames were knocked down, firefighters found a body on the first floor.

Neighbors say the resident was a reclusive, elderly man who rarely left the house.

The medical examiner took the body for identification.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
