When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found that there were eight people trapped in one of the minivans.

The Fire Department said that they had to use hydraulic rescue tools to rescue the passengers in the first minivan. Firefighters found an additional two injured passengers in the second minivan.

Deputy Chief Jonathan Carroll, the commander on scene, requested 10 ambulances and put area hospitals on alert.

The injured passengers were prepared for transportation by the fire and rescue crews while they waited for the ambulances to arrive.

Dr. Henry Crowley, the town’s service medical director, was also called to the scene to assist the injured passengers.

All 10 passengers were transported to local area hospitals. None of the injuries are considered to be life-threatening, according to the department’s report.

“Considering the amount of damage and number of occupants in this head-on crash, it is very fortunate that it appears that no one was serious injured,” said Deputy Chief Carroll.
