PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – In today’s daily press conference, Gov. Raimondo announced 10 new positive cases of COVID-19 for the state. This brings the state’s total to 54.
The Governor and Director of Health, at RIDOH, Nicole Alexander-Scott MD, MPH urge everyone to continue to heed the extreme social distancing rules and to stay home.
Raimondo says her intentions are to avoid a statewide shelter in place, though the RI National Guard is being activated.
RI National Guard will assist in operations across the state in providing healthcare workers with assistance as they become needed.
Currently 100 to 200 COVID-19 tests are being performed daily. The goal is to increase the state’s numbers to 500 to 600 tests per day.
Most Rhode Island school districts will begin their distance learning plans that were submitted to the governor and RIDE on Monday, March 23.
The governor also expressed thanks to the many businesses throughout the state that have graciously donated healthcare supplies.
