12 displaced, 1 injured in New Bedford apartment building fire

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE)- A fire inside of a New Bedford apartment building on Tuesday morning left 12 people displaced, and another injured, according to the city’s fire department.

Firefighters responded to the fire on North Front Street at about 8:10 a.m.

The fire started in a third floor apartment and firefighters managed to keep it contained to that unit.

Fire officials said that a worker doing maintenance inside of the building was burned during the fire.

Six families are displaced as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
