13 displaced after fire in attic of New Bedford home

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A fire broke out in a multi-family home, displacing 13 people in New Bedford Thursday night.

ABC 6 News crews were on the scene where firefighters could be seen inspecting the area around a home on Weld Street.

According to the New Bedford Fire Chief, the fire began in the attic of the home and officials deemed it uninhabitable. They said all smoke alarms in the home were in working order.

The American Red Cross is assisting the eight adults and five children who are now without a home.

No injuries to residents or firefighters were reported.

Fire crews remained on the scene supplying water to hot spots throughout the attic of the home.
