14-year-old Chariho student busted with booze and weapons at school event

RICHMOND, R.I. – A 14-year-old male has been arrested in Richmond after police found a knife, an airsoft gun, and alcohol on his person at a Chariho High School football game.

According to police, on November 4th, 2016 around 9 p.m. officers were approached by a concerned individual who informed officers that a male in a black hoodie was handling a knife near the bleachers.

Officers approached the teen and asked him about the knife.

The unidentified teen told officers he indeed had one in his backpack, and upon searching, officers found the contraband and confiscated it.

After questioning the teen, officers concluded there was no malicious intent.  

The youth now faces three charges including: possession of a firearm on school grounds, possession of an alcoholic beverage by an underage person, and weapons other than firearms prohibited.
