Two Bristol County Sheriff's Office Staffers Test Positive For Covid 19

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE)– Fifteen inmates and ten staff members of the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office have tested positive for COVID-19 since May 12, according a statement from spokesman Jonathan Darling.

The detention facility also reported that all Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainees have been tested, with the exception of eight who refused, following an order from a federal judge.

That group is being held in single cells and are being monitored, although all are asymptomatic, according to the statement. The other 65 detainees have tested negative.

With the 15 newest cases, there have been 24 total positives among inmates at the facility. Four have been released upon completion of their sentences, Darling said in the statement.

Seven of the latest staff members that tested positive are security officers. A teacher, a dispatcher and a counselor were also among the staff.

According to the statement, they are all expected to return to duty upon recovery.
