15 people arrested in Pawtucket drug sweep

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Police said Thursday 15 people were arrested in a drug sweep in Pawtucket.

The arrests happened Wednesday on Montgomery Street.

Det. Lt. Dino Giorgio said that they received multiple complaints from local business owners and residents on Broad and Montgomery streets.

Some of the complaint, Giorgio said, involved the “use and sale of narcotics in front of the businesses, residence, and of individuals harassing customers and local residents.”

During their investigation, Pawtucket’s narcotics unit “conducted several controlled purchases of narcotics” from some people on Broad and Montgomery streets.

Police said that they obtained several warrants for people who were identified as “local street level narcotics dealers.”

Wednesday, police executed a court ordered search warrant at Montgomery Street apartments. There, multiple packaged bags containing suspected crack cocaine, fentanyl, and numerous drug paraphernalia used in the packaging and sale of street level narcotics were found.

Some of the suspects were found inside the apartments, said Giorgio.
