13,000 gallon tank of sulfuric acid leaking in Attleboro, crews on scene

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE)- Crews responded to a hazmat incident in Attleboro where a 13,000 gallon tank was leaking sulfuric acid on Friday morning.
The Attleboro Fire Department confirmed to ABC6 that units were at Robert’s Chemical, an industrial chemicals manufacturer at 330 Victor Rd.
Anyone inside the building closest to the tank car was evacuated. No injuries were reported.
The Attleboro Fire Department estimates that as of 3 p.m., 5,000 gallons of sulfuric acid has leaked into an outside containment area.
The state Department of Environmental Protection is also on scene working with the business on cleanup efforts.
Fire officials say this is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.
The scene remains very active, according to fire officials.
