PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- A vigil was held Thursday evening to honor the life of 19-year-old shooting victim Tatyana Francois of Cranston.

Francois was shot on Japonica St. in Pawtucket Sunday night.

The vigil took place at the Nonviolence Institute in Providence. Members of Francois’ family and community leaders spoke, denouncing the recent uptick in gun violence.

“Everything I’ve heard about Tatyana, and I feel like I’ve known her, that I’ve met her, what a beautiful young lady,” said Lisa Pina-Warren of the Nonviolence Institute.

The vigil was also sponsored by Moms Demand Action.
