Fall River Police arrest two men for allegedly breaking and entering into the former school building that caught fire Saturday
27 year old Kristopher Cabral and 24 year old Jeffery Augiar were arrested after they turned their selves into the Fall River Police department on August 23rd for breaking and entering of the Coughlin School that caught fire on August 22nd.
They are being charged with Breaking and Entering in the Night Time for a Felony. Officials say other charges are possible.
Fire officials say the fire was reported at about 8:15 a.m. Saturday in the old Coughlin School in the city’s Flint neighborhood.
Fire officials say the school had power but any signs of it starting the fire has been ruled out.
They are investigating it as a possible arson because the fire appears as it was intentionally set.
Officials say that three ladder trucks and seven engine companies responded to the fire in the two-story brick building.
Firefighters, who were fighting the blaze from the exterior, were still at the scene at midday.
No injuries have been reported.
The former elementary school building dates to the 1890s.
It hadn’t been used as a school since 2008, when the city replaced several older school buildings. It was among several the city sold in recent years.
