Westport Police have arrested two men connected to a number of car breaks in the city.

Police in Rhode Island followed a suspicious vehicle to Westport where a motor vehicle stop was conducted.

The suspects, identified as Evan Jackson, 22, and Matthew Medeiros-Horzesky, 22, both of Dartmouth, were arrested on stolen property charges after police searched Jackson‘s 2008 Kia Sedan.

A number of items were seized, including jewelry, yard equipment, electronics, designer sunglasses, and a driver’s license of a Westport resident. Numerous hypodermic needles and clothing items were also located.

The two had been targeting unlocked vehicles for the past two weeks in Westport.

Additional stolen items reported in the car breaks were found in two New Bedford Pawn Shops. Police ask anyone who had their vehicle broken into in the past month to contact local police.
