2 corrections officers at ACI test positive for COVID-19

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Rhode Island Department of Corrections has confirmed that two officers at the Adult Correctional Institution have tested positive for COVID-19.
Both officers are employed in the Intake Service Center, according to a statement on the department’s Facebook page. Thirteen officers are currently in quarantine because of contact with the positive cases.
The intake center has placed further restrictions on movement in an effort to contain the virus.
There are currently no positive cases among prisoners, the department said.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with both officers who tested positive, wishing them a speedy recovery,” said Patricia Coyne-Fague, director of the state’s Department of Corrections.
