A man and woman were rushed to the hospital after being pulled from a fire in a New Bedford home.

A 9-year-old boy called 911 after flames broke out in his Dartmouth Street home around 4:30 Saturday morning. He was standing outside the home, but told dispatchers his mom and brother were still trapped inside.

Crews were able to pull his unconscious mother out of the house, and then rescued a 21-year-old man found on the second floor. Both were rushed to the hospital. Their conditions are not known at this time, but the man did suffer second and third degree burns over 50% of his body.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire, and credit the 9-year-old for saving his mother and brother.
