2 hospitalized, neighborhood without power after multi-car crash in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WLNE) — Three cars and a logging truck crashed in Portsmouth, knocking out power, and sending two people to the hospital Saturday.
According to the Portsmouth Assistant Fire Chief, Howie Tighe, the crash happened at around 2:09 p.m. on East Main Road
The driver of the car that was crushed was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries. A second victim was taken to an area hospital with a minor head injuries.

Officials said the driver of the logging truck was not injured and three other people involved refused treatment on the scene.
The Assistant Chief told ABC 6 News that power was knocked out to nearby neighborhoods and is anticipated to be out for several hours.
Officials further stated that clearing the scene of the overturned truck and crushed sedan will take hours.
The accident remains under investigation by Rhode Island State Police
